Pajama Angels had its early beginnings in 2002 but we officially established in 2007.  We were lead to each other through tragic circumstances and have since instinctively made the “hope” for the Cure for Breast Cancer our flight plan.   A dear sister “Mags” and friend lost her fight due to complications of the disease and almost in an instant we decided to work towards the cause, firstly, through our grief, and secondly, in hope for the cure.

 We are a group of three, two sisters and a friend who were all connected to Maggie.  Judy and Darlene were Maggie’s sisters and Tammie was Maggie’s friend.  Tammie and Maggie actually met during chemo treatments as Tammie is a breast cancer survivor herself.  Tammie and Maggie further bonded because of their mutual interest in collecting angel merchandise.  Judy and Darlene’s mom is also a breast cancer survivor.

We are a non-profit group raising awareness and monies for local breast cancer causes in Windsor & Essex County, Ontario, Canada.

We have spent many late nights and early mornings, still in pajamas, thinking of ways in which to raise awareness and funds for the cause as well as preparing for events.  This truth combined with Maggie’s (& Tammie’s)  fascination with angels, along with the historical mission angels portray , “Pajama Angels”  emerged as the most appropriate name for our organization.

We will not be silent,

Help us spread our wings

And be the Voice of Hope.

Text Box: Maggie’s Wings

Called to Earth 09-09-59;
Called to Heaven 02-03-02;
Called to Flight 07-20-03
(commemorates the first Dragon Boat Races held in Windsor, Ontario)

You lost your hair, but not your beauty
They took a breast but not your heart

They tried to cure you from the inside out
Surviving this struggle became a doubt

The angels gathered around your bed
They swooped and danced around your head

They whispered things only you could hear
Finally you smiled and had no fear

You’re every female in this space
Blessed with Courage and with Grace

Some live on earth some in another place
Never forgotten is the beauty of your face

Your wings are wide and strong and light
Your spirit oh so calm and bright

Your presence always felt, though no longer seen
In places where you’ve always been

Gently moving wings of white
You’re an angel that has taken flight

Maggie’s Wings are for every female you know
So gather your spirit, embrace a paddle, and Go!
